Jonathan Loader has owned B19-71-30 since November 2005.

The first race for B19-71-30 was the 9 Hours of Kyalami, round 1 of the 1971 Springbok series, driven by John Abrahams and Dirk Marais it qualified 12th and finished 8th. Results were even better in round 2, the Cape 3 Hours at Killarney, were Abrahams and Marais qualified 9th and finished 5th. Round 3 saw another 8th place finish for the usual driver paring in the Lourenço Marques 3 Hours.

For round 4, the Embassy 3 Hours at Bulawayo, the good results continued with 7th in qualifying and 8th in the race but the luck ran out in the next round, the Die Volksblad 3 hours at Goldfields, where B19-71-30 was a seventh lap retirement.

The last round of the series, the Natal Mercury 3 hours at the Roy Hesketh Circuit, Pietermaritzburg saw B19-71-30 score its best result with a 4th place finish following on from 7th in qualifying. For this race Dirk Marais was replaced by André Verwey.

Engine: BDG 2-litre

FIA Ref: 90/552

HTP Ref: GB 7043

Historical Notes:

Supplied new to John Abrahams/Dirk Marais in late 1971 with two FVC engines for the 71/72 Springbok Series. WM Racing acquired the car in 1976 and it may have passed to North Downs Racing before being purchased by Richard Budge (RGB Mining) in 1981.

The car stayed in Richard Budge's stable until 2002 competing regularly in the RGB Series and enjoying great success at the hands of Mike Wilds.

Richard Piper then bought it to run in the Orwell Supersports Cup which he won and then sold the car to Steve Hodges from whom I bought it in November 2005.
